I love that pic. I keep imagining the next couple of frames will be a slow-motion following of McSorley head with the helmet still on, slowly spinning through the air to finally rest in the Oiler's net.
That sure looks like McSorley (size, Jofa helmet, fists readily available for action) but ... are you sure that's not Glen Cochrane?? I don't recall McSorely ever in #34. Unless it's a pre-season 1985/86 fight? But I have been wrong before.
From Acomb to Zezel, VINTAGE LEAFS features photographs of your favourite Toronto Maple Leafs from years gone by. While the primary focus of the blog is on older photographs, the only steadfast rule is that players on the current team will not be showcased.

That would be pure poetry, KidK.

I am in no way an Oilers expert, but found that you were right that McSorley was 33, and Cochrane wore 34 for his 12 game stint in Edmonton. Edited.
Thanks!
Clark never fought Glen Cochrane, this pisture is from Wendel's first NHL fight , it was an exhibition game and was indeed Marty McSorley.
Damnit!
Wow... so Wendel's first ever fight as a Leaf was against a young Marty McSorley. That's a fantastic piece of trivia.
